Why Our Patients Love PDO Threads
NovaThreads help you look more lifted, rested, and refreshed—while still looking entirely like yourself.
How PDO Threads Work
NovaThreads are made of PDO, a material safely used in medical sutures for many years. Once placed under the skin, they.
The threads gradually absorb over several months, but the new collagen continues supporting the skin long after.

Popular treatment areas include the jawline, cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, neck, and areas where mild sagging or skin laxity is present.
What does the treatment feel like?
We use topical and/or injected numbing to keep you comfortable. Patients typically describe the sensation as pressure or a tugging feeling, not pain.
Is there downtime?
Downtime is minimal. Some tenderness, swelling, or mild tightness may occur for a few days, but most clients resume normal activities right away.
How long do results last?
You’ll see immediate lifting with continued improvement over the next 4–12 weeks as collagen forms. Results typically last 12–18 months, depending on the treated area and individual factors.
When will I see results?
You’ll notice lifting right away, with tightening and smoothing improving over time.
Are NovaThreads safe?
Yes. PDO threads have a long-established safety profile and dissolve naturally in the body. Our experienced injectors ensure precise, safe placement for beautiful outcomes.
Who is a good candidate?
NovaThreads are ideal for adults experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity who want a natural lift without surgery or added volume. During your consultation, we’ll help determine if NovaThreads are the right choice for your goals.
Pre- and Post-Procedure Instructions
Pre-Procedure Instructions
Goal: Minimize bruising, swelling, and risk of infection while ensuring optimal lift and collagen stimulation.
1. 5–7 Days Before Treatment
-
Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, if medically permitted:
-
Aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil®, Motrin®), naproxen (Aleve®)
-
Vitamin E, fish oil, ginkgo biloba, garlic, ginseng, or St. John’s Wort
-
-
Avoid alcohol for at least 24–48 hours before treatment.
-
Stop smoking if possible — nicotine impairs healing and collagen formation.
-
Avoid dental work (cleanings, fillings, etc.) within 2 weeks before and after your thread lift.
-
Notify your provider if you:
-
Have taken blood thinners, steroids, or antibiotics recently
-
Have any active acne, infection, or open wounds in the treatment area
-
Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy
-
2. Day of Procedure
-
Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or oils.
-
Eat a light meal or snack beforehand to prevent lightheadedness.
-
Dress comfortably (loose neckline or shirt that won’t rub the treatment area).
-
Bring support: You may wish to arrange for a ride home if you’re prone to swelling or discomfort.
-
Post-Procedure Instructions
Goal: Support healing, minimize movement of threads, and reduce bruising/swelling for best results.
1. Immediately After Treatment
-
Mild swelling, soreness, or tightness is normal and can last several days.
-
Avoid touching, massaging, or pressing the treated area.
-
Apply cold compresses (10 minutes every few hours for the first 24 hours) if needed to minimize swelling.
-
Sleep on your back with your head elevated for 3–5 nights to avoid pressure on threads.
-
Avoid makeup or skincare products for 24 hours unless instructed otherwise.
-
You may take acetaminophen (Tylenol®) for discomfort; avoid NSAIDs (may increase bruising).
2. First 1–2 Weeks
-
Avoid:
-
Vigorous exercise, yoga inversions, or heavy lifting (7–10 days)
-
Facial massages, facials, microdermabrasion, or laser treatments (2–3 weeks)
-
Excessive facial movements (chewing gum, wide yawning, dental procedures)
-
-
Keep the area clean and dry. Use gentle cleansers only.
-
Do not manipulate or “test” the threads — allow them to settle naturally.
-
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, or extreme heat for at least 1 week.
3. Healing & Long-Term Care
-
Bruising or puckering may occur and typically resolves within 1–2 weeks.
-
Some mild asymmetry or tightness may be present as threads integrate; this improves as swelling subsides.
-
Collagen remodeling continues for 4–12 weeks, and results may last 12–18 months depending on thread type and lifestyle.
-
Maintain a healthy diet, hydration, and skincare routine to prolong results.
